What is the right ‘tone’?

I’ve been sitting home for two days healing up a torn muscle. As always, when the news grabs on to something, they run the story for days non-stop. These two days it’s been the execution of al-Zarqawi. The story quickly moved from his death now to the ‘tone’ of the Bush Administration. I’m curious, what is the right ‘tone’?

Don’t get me wrong, I am not alluding to any sadness over the death of this monster. He, who lives by the sword, dies by the sword. It’s just disconcerting that we live in an age where we have to read the news daily for body counts on whether we’re winning or they’re winning. That’s pretty sad. At the end of the Cold War, I know many had to sigh with relief. But Terrorism is so much more brutal, sadistic, and archaic a strategy.

I’d like to be able to say it’s a wonderful world we live in, but I’m not so sure!
