Losing my Mojo!

I’ve had an impressive leap in my stats today, thanks to Planet Ajaxian. Ajaxian is quite possibly the greatest resource of Rich Internet Applications (RIA = Ajax = Web 2.0, etc.) happenings on the web I realize that’s only for the time being, but I appreciate the attention. I’d highly recommend their feed.

Granted, some of the comments regarding Payraise Calculator weren’t the most charming. One guy wrote a rather nasty note on it being a waste of both Ajax and PHP… but then I went to his site, and it had “beep beep”. That was it. Nothing else… no formatting, no images, no site… just “beep beep”. He shouldn’t throw stones. Payraise Calculator was a nice little fun project for me. It took about 25 hours and works great… I’m proud of it.

As well, I want to continue working in some other features. Perhaps a withholding calculator. And of course, I’m working on a targeted job search integration right now. I digress.

If it wasn’t for that jump in stats, I would not be growing with the momentum I’ve been enjoying. Perhaps I’m losing my Mojo – I’m not sure. At work, we’re preparing for a release so that’s consuming much of my time in testing. As well, I’ve been doing a lot of investigation and programming on the outside. I really am anxious to get my own applications off the ground.

A lesson to bloggers… this is what happens when you slow down on your blog. It’s the equivalent of walking out of a conversation. I have to be careful, respectful, and responsive to my readers. Otherwise, they’ll read elsewhere. Last week, I had up to 50 folks on my feeds each day – now it’s just over 30.

My apologies to all my readers if you’re not getting what you have come to expect from my site. Please comment and let me know if that’s the case or not. Please also comment with any questions or comments that I can answer for you!!! I’m really talented at bridging the gap between geek and common-folk so I look forward to putting answers to some of your questions in plain speak.
