links for 2007-03-26

  • That Techdirt article and http://www.theregister.com/2007/03/23/e360insig... are both worth checking out, it's a pretty interesting story.
  • Sal,

I checked that out and also checked out the info from Spamhaus. The interesting thing I noticed was that Spamhaus pushes that no one "opted in" to the communications. That's actually not illegal according to the CAN-SPAM act... there's only a requirement to be able to opt out of Spam.

They do; however, denote that inaccurate headers were utilized in the emails. That is against CAN-SPAM since it's an effort to disguise the source of the email. That alone could be grounds to name a company a spammer.

    Thanks for the link!
