Blogger: Please Correct your Comment Tab Order
In the early days of my blog, I was actually on Blogger. I’m still a fan of Blogger – with new blog engines coming online every day, I still think Blogger has the easiest interface for new bloggers to get up and running. If Blogger had domain name services back when I was using them, I might still be with them. They do now!
You may have read recently that commenting has been key to my blog’s growth. Each time I comment on Blogger, though, I roll my eyes when I attempt to tab through their commenting fields and they don’t have the tab order set correctly!
I was reading Converstations, one of my favorite blogs, and Mike was discussing a reaction that Panera employees had to a blog post that was ripping Panera (BTW, they didn’t care!).
There’s a Panera and Starbucks a couple stores away from each other right by where I live. The Panera is roomy, has free Wifi, and quiet. The Starbucks is small, loud, has Wifi you have to pay for (tmobile) and often has a line. Both of them have very hard, uncomfortable seats… something I’m going to keep complaining about. I always find myself at the Starbucks, though, so I decided to comment why on the original blog post.
Then it happened.
- I typed my comment.
- I tabbed.
- I clicked Other
- I tabbed.
- I typed my name.
- I tabbed to go to YOUR WEB PAGE
- Arrrrrgh… I’m back in my comment!
Blogger… please correct your tab order on Comments. It’s a little thing, but it’s so basic! For those of you that develop your own sites, always verify that your tab order works as people would expect them to.
