SearchThe trial is still out on what kind of impact this will have on Search Engine Optimization… but I don’t think it can hurt. Professional SEO guys can feel free to chime in.

I was curious whether or not I could dynamically generate keyword meta tags for sites that still crawl and utilize them. It winds up that it’s actually pretty simple to do if you’re utilizing a great tagging engine like Ultimate Tag Warrior.

According to most articles on the web, search engines indexing sites based on keywords are pretty much dead. The majority of search engines out there actually take a chunk of your page content and index your page based on keywords that they find.

For companies, some SEO professionals advise not to utilize keyword meta tags at all since you’re airing keywords you believe are important for any of your competition to see!

As a blogger, I don’t have any competition, so if they do weigh even slightly with other search engines, I don’t believe they’ll hurt anything. And this little modification is kind of cool. Utilizing Ultimate Tag Warrior, I can actually dynamically generate the keyword metatag content for each of my pages utilizing the following command:

<?php UTW_ShowTagsForCurrentPost("tagsettextonly") ?>

I can now put that command within my meta tag for keywords in my header:

<meta name="keywords" content="<?php UTW_ShowTagsForCurrentPost("tagsettextonly") ?>, douglas a karr, marketing, influence, automation, digital and database marketer, marketer, blog, technology, indianapolis, greenwood, indiana, in, 46142, marketing" />
