8 Wishes: Charity Best Practices on the Web

One evolving part of the web is its ability to spread the word for non-profits and charities. 8 Wishes is a fantastic example of this… bringing together a blog, a video, and a telethon style widget.

Here’s the video:

The Hole – video powered by Metacafe

And the widget:

The goal is to raise 1 Million dollars for children with learning disabilities and dyslexia. ChipIn will give Dyslexia Awareness Resource Center 501(c)(3) the all payments collected.Over a 5-year period of time D.A.R.C will award $10,000 scholarships to 100 kids across the United States. Should less than $1Million be achieved, fewer kids will be chosen.

Without even going to the site, you’re able now to see all the details of this campaign… on my site. It’s an amazing charity AND a perfect use of technology!

PS: If every reader today chipped in $1, we could get another $500 to 8 wishes! Let’s do it!

  • Hi Doug, thanks so much for your support! I'm glad you get what we're trying to achieve and prove the power of the internet and social media while we do it.
